The Managing Partner of Calgary’s largest independent mid-sized accounting firm has been appointed as the President of DFK Canada.
Scott Timson, Managing Partner of KMSS officially took over the reigns from outgoing President, Beth Porter during the recent DFK Canada Spring conference held in Toronto.

Scott joined the KMSS Partnership in 2003 and became Managing Partner in 2019. DFK Canada is a public accounting association in Canada with its 13 independent member firms serving major economic centres across the country and providing coast-to-coast coverage. Scott was first appointed to the DFK Executive Committee in 2020 and has served in the capacity of Vice President since that appointment. As he takes over the President role, Scott will serve as the Canadian National Group’s representative on the DFK International Advisory Board. Additionally, Scott sits on the 2024 DFK North American Conference Planning Committee.
Scott says “I’m honored to assume the role of President of DFK Canada. I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate closely with our great Canadian member firms and to represent Canada within our international group. My goal is to enhance our collective efforts and foster deeper, stronger relationships. Together, our DFK Canada Executive Committee will work diligently to strengthen our DFK value proposition, continue to share and learn from best practices and leverage our collective expertise to deliver exceptional value to our clients. Engagement amongst our members is the key to making our group successful and our objective is to obtain increased engagement through support for our various initiatives, whether that be technical webinar series or our leadership development training for Managers. We always need to ask ourselves the question – what can we do as a group that is going to bring increased value to our membership in DFK Canada – and then we need to deliver on that. I look forward to working with our Executive Committee over the next two years in following that mandate.”
The DFK Canada Executive Committee also recently appointed a new Vice President to fill the vacancy left by Scott Timson. Welcomed to the Committee is Rick Santos, the Managing Partner of Davis Martindale, based in London, ON. Rick has been involved with DFK Canada since 2009 when the firm first became a DFK member. Rick along with several firm partners were in attendance at the 2023 DFK Global conference in Miami, when Davis Martindale proudly accepted the DFK International Firm of the Year Award.
He said “It’s a great honour to step into a leadership role on the DFK Canada Executive Committee. Davis Martindale has found great value in the benefits of DFK from firm best practices to supporting the growth of its clients. I look forward to the journey and opportunities ahead for DFK and its member firms. It is important for us to continue to grow the DFK brand and share with our global business community the benefits of working with DFK member firms and that the independent network provides immense value to the success of their business”.
